Codex

Claude

App Store

Apple Watch

Codex

UsageWatch Help

Check Codex and Claude Code quotas, reset countdowns, and the last update time on iPhone, widgets, and Apple Watch. Once connected, UsageWatch checks for updates automatically. You don’t need to keep a computer running.

Try it with sample data

Choose Explore sample data on the welcome screen, or turn on Show sample data in Settings → Sample data. Preview the app, widgets, and Apple Watch without signing in or connecting Codex or Claude.

Samples are clearly labeled and don’t show your real quota. Turn sample data off when you’re ready to connect your own accounts.

Do I need to sign in?

No. You can connect accounts, subscribe, and restore a subscription as a guest. UsageWatch prepares a guest account when needed.

Sign in with Apple is optional. It helps you recover the connections and history saved in UsageWatch. You still sign in to each service separately, and App Store payment confirmation is a separate step.

Connect Codex

  1. In Settings, tap Connect Codex.
  2. Follow the instructions to sign in on OpenAI’s official page.
  3. If OpenAI asks for a code, return to UsageWatch to copy it, then enter it on the OpenAI page.
  4. Return to UsageWatch and wait for the connection and quota to appear.

No Mac app or computer pairing is needed.

Connect Claude

  1. In Settings, tap Connect Claude Code.
  2. Sign in on Claude’s official page and copy the code it gives you.
  3. Return to UsageWatch, paste the complete code from this sign-in attempt, and tap Connect Claude.
  4. Wait for the connection to finish.

If the sign-in has expired, start a new connection and use the new code. Enter your password only on Claude’s official page; don’t share it with anyone.

Read your quota

Codex shows quota remaining; Claude shows quota used. Periods such as 5 hours and 7 days are shown separately. Quota from different services or periods isn’t added together. UsageWatch displays only the information each service reports; a missing value doesn’t mean zero quota.

When a reset time arrives, a new update from the service is still needed to confirm that quota has reset.

When does quota update?

UsageWatch checks your quota on the server. Your computer can be off, and checks don’t send prompts to a model.

Checks usually run about every 15 minutes while usage is active, and less often when quota stays unchanged. If checks have slowed down, opening the iPhone app brings back more frequent updates. Tap Refresh to request a check now.

An update request doesn’t mean new data has arrived. A service limit, a check already in progress, or an error can delay the update. If a check fails, UsageWatch keeps the previous data and its timestamp instead of showing zero.

Choose Solo or Duo

  • Solo monitors one account: Codex or Claude. The US launch price is US$1.99 per month (original price US$6).
  • Duo monitors one Codex account and one Claude account together. The US launch price is US$2.99 per month (original price US$10).

Two accounts from the same service aren’t supported yet. Other regions use local currency. The App Store payment sheet shows the price you’ll pay.

When the launch offer ends, eligible existing subscribers can keep their preserved renewal price. If you cancel and resubscribe or change plans, Apple’s displayed price and rules apply.

Seven free days for existing accounts

When paid access starts, eligible existing UsageWatch accounts without a subscription can receive seven free days once. Check the app for the start and end times. This is a fixed period; reopening the app does not extend it.

These free days are a gift of monitoring time from UsageWatch, not an App Store subscription. They do not renew or charge you automatically. You can still choose Solo or Duo during this period and confirm a subscription through Apple. If you already have an active Apple subscription, its monitoring access takes priority. Apple determines free-trial eligibility separately; this gift does not change it.

When the gift ends, automatic quota checks pause if you have no active subscription. Releasable monitoring places held for old free connections are returned to the available pool. Pausing itself does not delete your account, saved sign-in information, or history; the existing data-retention rules still apply. Subscribe in the app to continue monitoring. Available cloud-monitoring capacity is still checked before purchase. If it is full, you will need to try again later.

App Store free trial and renewal

Eligible subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Apple determines eligibility. Each Apple Account can receive one trial across Solo and Duo; upgrading doesn’t start another trial.

After the trial, your chosen plan renews automatically at the monthly price shown before confirmation. To stop renewal, cancel through App Store subscription settings at least 24 hours before it renews. Access continues until the current period ends.

You can open App Store subscription settings from UsageWatch’s subscription page. Deleting the app or signing out doesn’t cancel your subscription.

Restore a subscription

After changing phones, reinstalling the app, or switching UsageWatch accounts, tap Restore subscription on the subscription page. Follow the App Store prompts using the Apple Account that purchased the subscription. You don’t need to sign in to UsageWatch with Apple first.

Restoring a subscription restores the number of accounts you can monitor. It doesn’t bring back the previous UsageWatch account’s connections or history. If the subscription is being used by another UsageWatch account, restoring it pauses the monitors it paid for on that account.

To recover the original connections and history, the original account must already have been linked to Sign in with Apple. Sign in to UsageWatch with the Apple Account used for that link.

Keep your connections when you change phones

You can link your current guest account to Sign in with Apple later and keep its connections and history. Do this before changing phones, deleting the app, or signing out of a guest account.

If you haven’t linked Apple and lose this phone’s sign-in information, the original guest account can’t be recovered. You’ll need to reconnect Codex and Claude. Restoring a subscription won’t recover that old data.

If the Apple Account is already linked to another UsageWatch account, the app reports a conflict. The two accounts won’t be merged or overwritten.

Widgets and Apple Watch

Add UsageWatch widgets to your Home Screen or StandBy. Install UsageWatch on Apple Watch and add it to a compatible watch face.

If a widget or your watch shows no quota, open UsageWatch on iPhone. In Settings, tap the Reconnect widgets and Apple Watch icon beside Connected devices, then allow time for it to update.

The system schedules background updates for widgets and Apple Watch, so they may update later than the iPhone app. Repeatedly checking them doesn’t force a new Codex or Claude query.

Quota and reset alerts

Turn on low-quota alerts in Settings and allow UsageWatch notifications. When fresh quota data and a reset time are available, you’ll be notified at 20% and 10% remaining.

You can also enable Codex reset alerts for announcements of regular or banked resets. Announcements come from Codex Resets and don’t guarantee that your account resets at the same time.

Codex usage calendar

The calendar on the Codex quota page combines your quota changes with reset announcements to estimate daily usage and show an emoji for the day. Tap a date for details, or open the reset history.

History starts when quota data is successfully collected. Missing days aren’t filled in, and estimates don’t measure working hours. Reconnecting starts a separate history period. Disconnecting Codex or deleting your UsageWatch account deletes the related personal history.

Credits and banked resets

When Codex provides the information, UsageWatch shows your extra-usage balance (Credits) and available banked resets. These are separate from subscription quota and aren’t added together.

UsageWatch only displays the balance and reset count. Go to the official Codex app to buy extra usage or use a banked reset.

Disconnect, sign out, or delete your account

  • Disconnect: Stops quota checks for that service and deletes its saved connection data. Disconnecting Codex also deletes its related personal usage history. You’ll need to reconnect to use it again.
  • Sign out: Ends sign-in on this phone without deleting the cloud account. Guests should read the recovery warning first.
  • Delete account: Confirm deletion in the account section of Settings to permanently remove your UsageWatch account, connections, quota history, and device access. This can’t be undone. It doesn’t delete your OpenAI or Claude account.

None of these actions cancels an App Store subscription. Cancel renewal separately in the App Store to stop future charges.

How are connected accounts used?

To check quota automatically, the server stores encrypted Codex and Claude sign-in information. This isn’t a special grant that can only read quota. UsageWatch limits its own actions to signing in, checking quota, and signing out; it doesn’t start model tasks to measure quota.

Disconnecting stops future UsageWatch checks. It doesn’t guarantee that the provider immediately invalidates every previously issued sign-in credential. You can also manage sessions on OpenAI’s or Claude’s official website.
